Day 1: Esquel
Our meeting point is the town of Esquel in Argentinian Patagonia. During the day, you will have time to go to the hotel and walk around town. In the evening, we will gather in a welcome dinner, which is the start of our great adventure!
Day 2: Esquel – Futaleufu – Trekking. Camp: Lago Las Rosas
We will start our day driving from Esquel to Futaleufú. After a one-hour drive, we will arrive at Chilean border where we’ll see the dramatic change of scenery between the two countries. In Chile, we will visit the picturesque town of Futaleufu, heading later to Las Rosas Lake. The narrow path between the mountains will reveal lakes and spectacular views, as we get closer to our destiny. Once there, we will have time to go swimming and relax before enjoying our dinner. We will camp that night under a sky full of stars, just beside the lake.
Day 3: Trekking – Horseback Riding – Espolon Lake – Outriggers. Accommodation: Espolon Lake.
After a short hike, we will ride horses through a trail with beautiful surrounding, until reaching Espolon Lake. After having lunch, we will jump into our outriggers (Hawaiian competition boats) to cross the lake. We will enjoy the greatness of the Lake from a much closer perspective. At other side we will have dinner and spend the night in cabins by the lakeshore.
Day 4: Trekking – Condor Hill. Camp: Tree House
Continuing our journey, we will walk through a forest, around a lake, and hike up to a hilltop that will allow us to contemplate the circuit we have done, with unforgettable views. There, we will find our next camp, which will surprise visitors with its originality. A series of tree houses interconnected by bridges and overlooking a lake will be our accommodations for the night. Our schedule has built time to leave room for relaxing at camp, swimming in the lake, go kayaking, or relaxing at the lakeside hot tub. We will also have the possibility of hiking up to Condor hill, where condor sights are very common. Condors are typical birds of Chile with a wingspan of over 10 feet.
Day 5: Trekking – Zip Line – Rock Climbing – Rappel. Camp: Cave Camp
After hiking back to the banks of the river, we will “zip” across through a pulley system flying through the air and sliding over the river. We can choose also jump into the river from different altitudes up to 40 feet high and feel the adrenalin of free falling. In the afternoon, we will go climbing until reaching the top of a rock formation where we will enjoy spectacular 360º views. Then we will rappel off a 300-foot granite wall. Our climb has been carefully designed to be successfully completed by people of all ages, with different levels of difficulty you can choose from. Finally, we will relax in the hot tub overlooking the river and have an abundant dinner to recover our strength.
Day 6: Trekking – Rafting – Canyoneering. Camp: The Nuns
We will begin our day hiking alongside the river until reaching our boats. From there, we will raft an entertaining section of the river with class 4 and 4+ until we arrive to our lunch spot. Back on the rafts, we will continue to Arroyo Blanco, a spectacular canyon of white granite and turquoise water, which we will traverse on foot until we reach a waterfall. Then, we head to a new camp, where we will have time to relax and enjoy the cliff hot tub overlooking the river and its landmark mountains, the Nuns. We will also enjoy a well-deserved Patagonian asado (lamb barbecue).
Day 7: The Nuns Camp – Esquel
From the Nuns Camp, we will drive to the Esquel Airport to catch the flight back to Buenos Aires. Along the way, we can enjoy the scenery and incredible beauty of the area, reliving a journey that will certainly leave a mark on our lives.
